Turning Point Foundation knows that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by but, most importantly, through the actions of our initiatives. Our Non-Profit Organization realized that by working together, we could overcome our challenges much more efficiently. Turning Point Foundation connects the community with resources that include housing, food, clothing, mental health services and addiction prevention services. Furthermore, we understand that poverty and mental illness are often linked. Studies have found that 1 of 5 youth in Virginia lives with a severe mental illness. Additionally, half of all mental illness starts before age 14. Lastly, over 200,000 children have grown up in poverty in Virginia in the past decade. So, we understand that if our initiative starts within the younger population, we can reduce this detrimental outcome that is seeping into our society.
